Abstract:
Records are important in the running of every organization or business in whatever stage be it a current record, semi current record and non-current record which brings about the importance of records management .The objective of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of records management in enhancing service delivery in the school of education a case study of the university of Zambia. Purposively sampling was used for staff and Multi-stage sampling for students was used and data was collected using questionnaires and an interview guide. The total number of the study was 110 and the response rate was 100%. Using stata and Ms Excel software used to analyse quantitative data while qualitative data was analysed using manual analysis coupled with thematic analysis. Findings revealed that 50% of the students agreed that information in their records were accurate and assessment of reports was accurate. However 40% disagreed with the statement that staff members were consistent with providing assistance to students. The study, therefore recommended among other things that records Management function should be incorporated into the School's Strategic planning initiatives and that the school should provide opportunities for training their records management staff with workshops and seminars.
